Buying
What the 10% deposit actually buys
Where the deposit goes, the two windows in which it is fully refundable, and the exact moment it stops being refundable.
Made-to-order products change how buying works, and the deposit is where that difference becomes concrete. It is worth being precise about it, because 'deposit' means different things at different companies and some of them are not in the customer's favor.
It is not a fee
The 10 percent deposit is applied in full to your final confirmed price. It is the first part of your payment, not a charge on top of it and not a booking fee that disappears. What it buys is a place in the build schedule.
The price it applies to is not the price you paid it against
This is the part people miss. The figure you configure on this site is an estimate, based on the dimensions and options you entered. It is not binding. After we measure in person, you get a final confirmed price — and if that differs from your estimate, you decide whether to go ahead before anything is built.
So the sequence is: estimate, deposit, measurement, confirmed price, your decision, then production. There is a real decision point after the measurement, and it belongs to you.
Two windows in which it comes back in full
The first is time-based: change your mind within 3 business days of paying, and it is refunded in full, no questions and no fee.
The second is event-based and usually longer: the deposit remains refundable up until production begins on your order. Production starts only after the in-home measurement and the final price confirmation — so in practice the refundable window extends past the measurement and past the moment you learn the real price.
- Within 3 business days of payment — full refund, unconditional.
- Any time before production begins — full refund.
- Once fabrication has started — the deposit is retained, and a made-to-order product cannot be returned.
Where it stops
Once fabrication begins the deposit is no longer refundable, and made-to-order goods cannot be returned once fabricated. That is the nature of a product cut to your opening's dimensions — there is no second customer for a 14 ft 3 in screen in your fabric.
We always tell you before production starts. That notification is the line, and it is not a surprise you get to discover afterwards.
How a refund is actually paid
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe publishes a settlement window of 5 to 10 business days once a refund is processed.
To start one, call (571) 366-7862 or send a message through the contact page with your name and order details.
You do not have to pay anything to get a number
There is a no-payment path, and it is not a lesser one: request a free design consultation and estimate, and a specialist reviews your configuration, talks through the space and the options, and confirms the details. No payment, no obligation.
If you are not ready to commit to a build slot, take that route. The deposit exists to reserve production capacity, not to qualify you for a conversation.
Defects are not a returns question
One distinction worth keeping straight: if something arrives or later turns out to be faulty, that is a warranty matter, not a return. It is handled under the manufacturer's warranty and our workmanship guarantee, and it starts with one call to us.
The warranty guide sets out which document covers what — and is explicit that the product warranty is SunPro's, not ours.
