Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers about estimates, deposits, refunds, warranty, measurement, and the products themselves. If you don't see your question here, contact us — we would rather explain it up front.

Pricing & deposits

How does pricing work?

The prices shown on this site and in your cart are estimates based on the configuration and dimensions you enter. They are not binding until we confirm your project with an on-site measurement. After measurement we give you a final, confirmed price — if it differs from your estimate, you decide whether to proceed before anything is built. The details are in our Terms of Service.

How much is the deposit?

A 10% deposit reserves your build slot and is applied in full to your final confirmed price. It is not an extra fee — it is the first part of your payment.

Is my deposit refundable?

If you change your mind within 3 business days of paying your deposit, tell us and we refund it in full — no questions, no fee. Beyond that, your deposit remains refundable up until production begins on your custom order. Once fabrication has begun, the deposit is no longer refundable, and made-to-order goods cannot be returned once fabricated. We will always tell you before production starts. Full policy: Refund & Cancellation Policy.

How do I cancel or request a refund?

Call us at (571) 366-7862, or send a message through the contact page with your name and order details. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method through Stripe, our payment processor — Stripe publishes a settlement window of 5–10 business days once a refund is processed.

Can I get an estimate without paying anything?

Yes. Request a free design consultation and estimate — a comfort specialist reviews your configuration, talks through your space and options, and confirms the details. No payment, no obligation.

Measurement, scheduling & service area

Do you measure before building?

Yes. Our team confirms measurements at your home before fabrication, and production does not start until after we have measured and you have confirmed the final price. There is always a window to step back before anything is built. Want to rough-measure first? See the measuring guide.

How does scheduling work?

After measurement and final confirmation, we schedule fabrication and installation with you. Scheduling dates are good-faith commitments — fabrication lead times, weather, and site conditions can move them. If a date needs to change, we tell you as early as we can and agree on a new one with you.

What area do you serve?

We are based at 7503 John Marshall Highway, Marshall, VA 20115 and serve Virginia, Maryland, DC, and the Mid-Atlantic. See the service area page.

Warranty & repairs

What is covered by warranty?

Every product is covered two ways: frames, fabrics, motors, and hardware carry the manufacturer's warranty, and the installation itself carries our workmanship guarantee. If a covered component fails, we handle the claim and the fix — you make one call, to us. The full written warranty terms for your specific product are included with your quote. Details: Warranty.

What isn't covered by warranty?

Storm damage from conditions that exceed the product's published wind ratings, and unauthorized modifications or repairs — alterations, third-party repairs, or parts we didn't supply can void the manufacturer's coverage. If something needs attention, call us first.

What if my product has a defect?

A defect is not a refund matter — it is a warranty matter, and we fix it. Stop using the product if it's binding, sagging, or making unusual noise, then call us or send a message with a quick description and a photo if you can. We diagnose and resolve it — coordinating the manufacturer's warranty claim when a component is at fault, and handling it ourselves when the installation is.

What should I do when severe weather is forecast?

Retract awnings and secure screens when severe weather is forecast. Our products are engineered to published wind ratings; damage from conditions that exceed them isn't a product defect. More tips: Care & maintenance.

Products & options

What sizes can you build?

Everything is made to order. Awnings run 10 to 40 ft wide with 8 ft of projection; crossarm awnings cover narrow, deep spaces 8 to 13 ft wide; motorized screens run 3 to 30 ft wide and 4 to 20 ft tall; hurricane screens 3 to 30 ft wide and 5 to 13 ft tall; wind abatement screens 3 to 25 ft wide and 5 to 14 ft tall; and Open Roller 2.0 screens 3 to 22 ft wide and 4 to 15 ft tall. The measuring guide has the full table.

Are your awnings and screens motorized?

Yes. Awnings are fully motorized with a wireless remote and a manual override for power outages. Screens offer motor choices including smart-home automation with obstacle detection and the ability to synchronize multiple screens; Open Roller 2.0 is also available in a manual configuration.

What fabric and mesh choices are there?

Awnings use Sunbrella fabrics — 30 in-stock colors with over 300 custom options — with a standard cassette housing in White, Bronze, Beige, or Black. Screens offer insect mesh in a range of densities plus solar mesh in 60%, 70%, 80%, and 90% openness options; Open Roller 2.0 carries premium Phifer SunTex Solar 95 & 97, Twitchell Nano Solar, and Twitchell Dim Out privacy fabrics.

Can you recover my existing awning instead of replacing it?

Yes. Our Awning Recover service fits your existing frame with brand-new, made-to-measure Sunbrella fabric — restoring color, weather protection, and style for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement. It starts at $136.19. Not sure which product fits? See the comparison guide.
