Understanding your warranty

Updated 2026-08-10 Warranty Ownership

Two separate things cover your project — the manufacturer's warranty on the product, and our workmanship on the installation. Here is which is which, who to call, and what neither of them covers.

Read this part first

The warranty on the product you buy from us is SunPro's, not ours. SunPro manufactures these awnings and screens and publishes the warranty terms; American Comfort Masters is the authorized dealer and installer. Nothing on this page is an American Comfort Masters warranty, and nothing on this page is the controlling document.

The controlling document is the written warranty supplied with your quote for the specific product you order. If anything here differs from that document, that document wins.

This is not a technicality. SunPro's warranties contain implied-warranty limitations and 'no other express warranties' clauses that make SunPro's own document controlling over any conflicting statement — including a summary like this one.

You call us, we handle the claim

One thing about how these warranties work is genuinely in your favor, and it is worth stating plainly: SunPro's awning warranty says the consumer's warranty is registered, verified and coordinated through an authorized dealer, because SunPro does not provide support directly to consumers.

In practice that means the claim path is you, then us, then SunPro. You make one call, to us, and we take it from there. That is also why buying from a dealer who is still around in five years is not a sentimental consideration.

What SunPro publishes on awnings

SunPro's awning warranty document, rev. 2023.08.15, is published as a limited 10-year warranty. Its stated terms are 10 years on hardware, 10 years on motors and controls, 10 years on fabric, and 24 months on accessories.

SunPro's published terms as of rev. 2023.08.15. Terms change between revisions; the document supplied with your quote governs.

What SunPro publishes on screens

SunPro's motorized roll screen warranty, also rev. 2023.08.15, is structured differently — and the fabric term is the part worth reading twice.

Hardware is published as a lifetime term. Motors, controls and electrical accessories are 5 years. Fabric and mesh are 2, 5, 10 or 15 years depending on which fabric you select, because that term is based on the mesh manufacturer's own warranty and is passed through SunPro rather than originated by them. Your fabric choice is therefore also a warranty choice.

SunPro's published terms as of rev. 2023.08.15. The fabric term is passed through from the mesh manufacturer.

What is not covered

Both documents exclude weather damage beyond what the product is rated for, and they are explicit about the ratings. SunPro states that their awnings are not rain, storm or hurricane rated. The screen document carries a 40 MPH wind-use disclaimer.

Both also exclude labor, removal, repair and travel costs — the parts are covered, the visit is a separate matter. And modification is the exclusion that voids the most: alterations, third-party repairs, or parts SunPro did not supply can end coverage entirely.

The awning document enumerates a dozen specific exclusions worth knowing before you own one.

Exclusions summarized from SunPro's Motorized Awning Limited Warranty and Motorized Roll Screen Warranty, both rev. 2023.08.15. This is a summary, not the list — read the document supplied with your quote.

Third-party components carry their own terms

Some things in your project are warranted by somebody else again. Twitchell publishes its own limited warranty on Textilene Dimout fabric. Somfy publishes its own warranty on the TaHoma bridge, running from date of manufacture. A mesh's term, as above, comes from the mill.

Ask us at quote which document covers which component, and keep them together with your paperwork.

Our part

Separately from the manufacturer's warranty on the product, our installation carries our workmanship guarantee. If a covered component fails we coordinate the manufacturer's claim; if the installation is at fault, that is ours to fix and we fix it.

The full written terms of both are provided with your quote.

OWNER ACTION: American Comfort Masters has not published the written terms of its workmanship guarantee anywhere. Until it does, this page states only what the site already says — that terms come with the quote. Supply the real terms and this section should be replaced with them.

Where this comes from

SunPro Motorized Awning Limited 10-Year Warranty (rev. 2023.08.15); SunPro Motorized Roll Screen Warranty (rev. 2023.08.15)

Published by SunPro Motorized Awnings & Screens.

EVERY warranty term on this page is SunPro's, or a third-party manufacturer's, as published in their own documents. None of them is an American Comfort Masters warranty. The written warranty supplied with your quote is the controlling document.
