What we need to quote your project

Updated 2026-08-10 Buying Measuring

The information that turns an estimate into a firm price — taken from the order worksheets the fabricator actually fills in.

The estimate and the price are different things

The number you configure on this site is an estimate based on the dimensions and options you enter. It becomes a confirmed price after an in-person measurement, and you decide whether to proceed at that point, before anything is built. The 10 percent deposit is applied in full to that confirmed price.

What follows is what the order actually needs. You do not have to know all of it to start — but the more of it you have, the closer the estimate lands to the final number.

For an awning

SunPro's retractable awning order worksheet asks for the width, the projection, the frame color, the fabric selection by number, the valance style, and the bracket type — soffit or roof mount. Behind those choices sits the mounting height question from the measuring guide, which is the one that can change the whole design.

Worksheet fields are from SunPro's Retractable Awnings Manual Order Worksheet. The options SunPro's worksheet can accept are not necessarily the options ACM quotes — see the configurator on this site for what is currently offered.

For a screen

A screen order needs the opening dimensions, the mount configuration, the mesh selection, the housing and track finish, and the control choice. The mount configuration is the one that most changes the finished size and the price, which is why it gets settled on site.

For an awning recover

If the frame is sound and only the fabric is finished, an Awning Recover re-skins what you already have. What we need is the frame's dimensions, its condition, and the fabric selection. Photographs of the frame — especially the arms and the front bar — answer most of the rest.

Say at the outset that it is a recover rather than a new awning. It is a materially different job at a materially different price.

Photographs beat descriptions

Two photos are worth a paragraph of description every time: a straight-on shot of the whole opening or wall, and a close-up of the header and the area immediately above it. If there is a soffit, shoot up into it. If there is an existing frame, shoot the arms.

Worksheet fields describe what the fabricator's order form asks for. They do not describe ACM's pricing, and the range of options a worksheet can accept is wider than the range any given dealer quotes.
